MY TRUE LOVE!

Me and my true love, Pete...with Krys and Giselle in the background

Have YOU found your true love yet? I found mine in 1969, married him in 1971, and after 7 rocky years, WE found our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. No, things were not perfect from that time on...but they were better than they ever HAD been, and were getting better by the day.
Are things perfect now, 27 years after we got saved? No, not by a long shot. But this we know...we are committed to each other, thru thick or thin. There is no turning back. We have set our hands to the plow, and continue looking straight ahead. Would ANY of this be possible without that day in 1978...no. WE know how bad things were, and they were not getting any better. Divorce would have been the next step. Thank God for those believers God put in our paths those many years ago. A Christian marriage can still be a struggle...but without Christ, nearly impossible. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will look strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.

Farm Chicks

Ave and Mom
Ang and me (Cyn) with our "farm chick" aprons!!

Ave and me (Cyn) at Homemakerang's farm

Ave and I spent an awesome afternoon at our new friend Homemakerang's farm yesterday. Ave and Ang's girls played Lego computer games, ate lunch, and swam...while Ang and I created aprons from a blue and white chicken print toille tablecloth we found a few weeks ago for $1.00 at a garage sale! We didn't use a pattern...just winged it using one of Ang's vintage aprons as a template of sorts. It was our 1st official FarmGirl meeting......with many more to come!

Shoppin fools

Oooohhh what an awesome day we had!! My 13 yr old daughter Ave and I did some junkin today! We hit a couple resale shops, a Goodwill, (gotta love those Goodwill's!), and some cute shops we had never been to before. It being August and all, most of the summer stuff is on clearance, and we got some really good deals. A couple of "prairie" skirts, (which we can both wear, now that "big mama" has lost and kept off 30#), (and...lest we forget...the feminine farmgirl challenge!!!)some cute flip flops, a pair of jeans for Ave, (unfortunately, for me anyway, Ave is over 5" taller than me, so the jeans fittin mama are a no go!!), and a cool vintage upholstered rocking chair for only $25!!! The best part, however, is not in the purchases of the day, as good as they might have been, but , spending time with my youngest child, my gift from the Lord, my beautiful Ave. (I love you, darlin) I thank God daily for my children, and for the special extra blessings he has given me, my Sam (16) and Ave.

Eternally grateful to our awesome God,

Farmgirl challenge

I was recently challenged by a friend to try wearing skirts or dresses for 7 days and see what the outcome is. Well, it has been at least 7 days, andI'm not sure if I want to give up the challenge!! I ENJOY looking feminine, feeling feminine and being treated a bit differently by others. (especially my husband of nearly 34 years!!) Now, I'm not saying it would be the most practical thing to wear when it is 10 below outside, or if I were playing softball at a picnic...(although I DID play volleyball this past weekend in a slim, white skirt, and didn't find it at all difficult or encumbering), but for now, I think I'm leaning towards being a feminine farmgirl. Any takers??? One benefit I and others who have taken the challenge have found, is that skirts are just plain cooler. For some strange reason, capri's or even shorts are not as cool in the wicked summer heat as the skirt is. Try it yourself and see if I'm not right!!
