THE LORD'S HAND'S?

"One will say, I am the Lord's; and another will call himself by the name of Jacob; and another will write {even brand or tattoo} upon his hand "I AM THE LORD'S"..." Isaiah 44:5

A few days before Thanksgiving I read YellowMama's post concerning our hands and how differently we might act if every time we reached for something or touched someone, we saw "The Lord's" written across our palm.
It got me to thinkin'.
So on Thanksgiving morning, after putting the bird in the oven, I wrote a note to myself across my right palm.
A gentle (or not) reminder of who I belong to.
And who I represent.
I had to choose how my hand was going to be used.
To bless or to curse.
To caress or to clench in anger.
The words in red were not only a reminder of how I use my hands.
It was a reminder of how I use my tongue.
Every time I saw those words in red, I stopped to think before I spoke.
To speak "the truth in love", or to hold my thoughts to myself.
To gossip, or to edify.

I won't always have "The Lord's" written across my palm.
A load of dishes and it is all but faded away.
But I WILL remember forever, the day "THE LORD'S", written in red, played a significent part of Thanksgiving, 2007.

HARRY & IKE

"The fundamental basis of this nation's laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from [biblical] teachings...if we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state."

Harry S. Truman

"Without God, there could be no form of government nor American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first---and most basic---expression of Americanism."

Dwight D. Eisenhower

I love these guys!

CYN'S...BELIEVE IT OR NOT

Look familiar?
Especially to those of us over 50!
Remember when our moms would rub our chests with the greasy, but oh so soothing, Vicks VapoRub?
Seems that mom was not too far off after all.
Scientists in Canada have found that greasing up the bottoms of your feet with the Vicks and then covering with a warm pair of socks will stop that awful night time coughing.
You read me right!
The scientists at the Canadian Research Council were investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines as compared to alternative therapies like accupressure.
Cyn was about to do her own private investigation.
So, after taking a Nyquil capsule last night, I was sleeping before 11pm. By 5am, said Nyquil was wore off, and I was coughing almost continuously for perhaps 15 minutes.
Enough was enough.
Out came the Vicks.
Greased up the soles of my feet. (a bit on my chest also, for good measure)
Toasty warm socks.
And blissful sleep for another 3 hours.
Try it for yourself!
