MEMERE'S LITTLE HELPER

Snappin' beans on the front porch.

On Tuesdays I have the privilege of taking care of my only grandchild, Austin, who is 6. During the school year I get to see him maybe only once a week, but in the summer, he's mine at least twice!
Today there was work to be done. Memere's tomatoes had been long neglected in the garden, and were threatening to rot on the vine if they did not get picked.
Austin was a more-than-willing partner in this endeavor, and picked a whole bucket full by himself, chattering non-stop about the tomatoes, the cloudy skies which looked like rain, and the possibility of Albie Darn, the rooster, flying over the coop and chasing him!!!

I take these weekly opportunities, and pray over him as he is playing with our golden, Beau, or eating his lunch, or just hangin' around. What a ministry we have as parents and then grandparents, to bless our little ones with love and prayer!

What(and WHO!) are YOU prayin' for?

I LOVE Renee Olstead. I play her cd all the time.

The All the Way song, Frank Sinatra's hit on my blog, was our wedding song! Love that type of music.

Oh, I knew your daughter's name is Gina, but didn't want you to think I was making it up after telling you my son's name is Austin!
It's a small world!

Thanks for visiting my blog, keep coming back! I plan to post pics of inside one day (hopefully) soon.

I love that you get called Memere..so classy sounding. My only granddaughter..who just turned 5...calls me Gaggy. Yep..Gaggy!! Yikes. She was originally trying to say Granny..but it stuck. Hmmm. NOT what I would have chose..but I am now forever Gaggy.
I pray for my grown boys in Calif (3 of them) and little Kayla every day!!

Amen! It is such a privilege--and an awesome responsibility--to pray for the little grands. And that includes praying for all the people in their little lives, parents, siblings, playmates, sitters, teachers, etc. Thank you for your lovely posts.

Your photographs are very good and brought back lots of memories of days gone by for me. I remember snappin green beans and shelling lima beans and picking peas and eating almost as many as I picked. Those were the days when London was being bombed and we listened to Edward R. Murrow reporting from the center of the city with bombs exploding in the background. This is London Calling was something we thought we might hear on the old Crosley radio.

Nice blog you have here.

That is such an education for a little guy! I'll bet he will always cherish the memories he is making at your house :
And Happy Birthday to you!
I'm praying for the youth in our community who are mostly unchurched.
