Potato hills, that is...
I knew the rules of potato planting.
When the potato plants get "so high", you mound dirt up all around the plant, so that just the top few inches of the plant sticks out above the dirt.
I JUST DIDN'T KNOW IT WOULD TAKE MANY WHEEL BARROWS OF DIRT TO ACCOMPLISH THIS!!!
(neither did Sam, our 20 yos, who I enlisted to get the dirt for me!)
So now that's done!
A peek at our Lincoln peas, growing up around our pseudo windmill.
Surrounding the peas are a variety of lettuces, carrots, beans, leeks, chard, broccoli raab, and radishes.
Growing up all nice like.
We have already had many salads off this garden, with so many more to come.
You know the drill.
Cut, eat, and cut and eat some more!
BRING IT ON!
A portion of the herbe garden.
The sage has taken over, and I have had to hoik some out to make room for some of the other herbes.
Last year I planted one, lonesome dill plant.
It went to seed before I could hardly use any of it.
This year, there is dill everywhere.
Dill I did not plant.
In the garden.
In the grass.
Growing under the sage that ate Manhattan.
Dill pickles anyone???
How is YOUR garden growing?

Wow...What a beautiful garden!!
Your potatoes are healthy, and your lettuces are such a pretty green and maturing so nicely.
Reminds me of the gardens my father had when I was a child, and the neighbors' garden, with the beautiful rows.
I'm so impressed.

looks like Camelot ... the leaves fall into neat little piles.
The rows look lile a meticulous little farmette gardener ...which you are!
We'll have mesclun mix in about a week.
I'm expecting some hash browns and eggs in August!!!
Your garden looks great! Mine is growing slowly....it needs SUN! I have never heard of hauling in dirt to hill up your potatoes...we just hoe around the plant and hill it up that way! I was just talking about my dill today...the volunteer dill always grows much faster than when I plant it! Have a great weekend!
Enjoyed the visit to your garden in this post. So pretty and green. Mine is still green, but with our Texas summer coming on strong it will be a struggle to keep it that way!
Your garden looks so well manicured and inviting. I turn on the sprinkler on mine from a distance and keep thinking that if I don't look at it, the weeds will go away. Nothing has happened yet.
Oh My. I can hardly believe your garden looks so good. Here in Western Minnesota things are just starting to sprout. We were not able to plant until after the Memorial Day weekend. I am anxiously waiting for mine and envious of yours. Thanks for sharing those inspiring pictures.

ps. I planted dill seed for the first time this year. We'll have to see if it takes over like yours did.
I am having a BLOGMANCE with your lovely vegetable garden.
Wow now that is a garden...how wonderful!

Just found your blog tonight and am having a great time reading through some of your recent posts. I especially enjoy reading about gardens and finding out what others are growing in theirs!
It's lookin' good!
Our garden is taking a back seat this year...due to the addition we are building.
Only so many hours in a day.
Next year...
Your garden looks great! Unfortunately this year circumstances prevented me from getting a garden planted, and I usally have a huge one.
I'm already looking forward to next spring, but until then I will enjoy other bloggy gardens :-) Thanks for sharing.
Wow, Cyn~ What a great garden you have! so greet...so organized...
love the trellis for the peas ... imagining how they'll look all the way up to the top!
We're in upstate, NY...so things are just shooting up ... finally!
I just love your bird feeder too!
Have a wonderful Saturday ~Maria
AHA! Too funny! Me too! I'm sick of going on dirt hunts! LOL
We compromised by using straw, then sprinkling dirt over it. It's going a lot better now. :D I've got to get a pic up of our boxes. They are almost done.
Love your dill and sage horror flicks. Let us know if the cukes join in, because you'll really be in trouble then. LOL

Your garden is lovely and the product of much hard work. My garden is scattered...again...we wanted raised beds and are working on those but it won't happen this year. So, my garden is haphazard and I've already asked a neighbor to buy his 'leftover produce' this year. He said yes so it's a good thing for both of us!
Oh gosh, I know nothing about potatoes! I would have never known to mound dirt around them (we're going to grow them next year).
I think you were the one that told me about removing the bottom stems of my tomatoes. I love blogland.
You will be eating out of there before you know it.:)
wonderful potager!
