Down...but NOT out

Urinary Tract Infection symptom

Among the other things that have not gone exactly "right" over here, I was hit this weekend with a UTI. Likely caused by the 1 day with a catheter, but regardless, a pain in the....well, not a pain the you know where, but pain, nonetheless!
Adding insult to injury, my family doctor made me pinky swear to high tail it to the emergency room is this was at ALL accompanied by a temp!
So....my therapy has taken a nose dive, and when my therapist shows up later this morning and sees my great lack of pregress, I am going to plead the UTI.
And pray for compassion.
Cause physical therapy hurts like hell.
For real.

On the bright side, our friends have been incredibly supportive.
Meals have been rolling in on a regular basis and have been inhaled.
My friend and neighbor, Michelle, has managed to bring in 3 meals last week, and what a treat they have been!
And...she has done all of this cooking and baking for US, while her whole family has been on an elimination diet to find the food culprits responsible for allergies, etc. that have run amuck at their home.
Can't imagine how difficult that must have been....cooking up wonderful food, then giving it all away! Michelle and her family have truly gone the extra mile!
And that girl can cook!

So, all that being said, I am slowly feeling better and getting around a bit more. This walker thing drives me batty! Using it tends to make you shuffle like the old man character Tim Conway used to play on the Carol Burnett show!
Gotta stop that!

And...I am trying to stop in on my favorite blogs, even tho I am not likely commenting.
Sitting at the computer for too long stiffens out my leg, and I end up getting frustrated.

But, I"m back.
Slowly but surely.
And I'll be in touch again real soon.

xoxo,
Cindy

Take as much time as you need. Since the hubs had both done at the same time, his rehab was done in a local nursing home rehab unit for a month...then the trips to PT three times a week.
There is no way I could have helped him by myself in the beginning.....
He is 6'3" and WAS 280 lbs at the time of his surgery.
OY!
Since then, he has taken off 60 lbs.
Keep moving! After awhile you will not shuffle like Tim Conway.

Ow, ow, ow! Bummer!

I'm glad to hear from you. It will be a little while, but you'll be back at it soon enough.

I think a video of you in your walker would be appropriate at this time, don't you? lol

Praying for your recovery and continued good humor. Praising God with you for good friends and family who are caring for you up there.

Glad to see are trying to recover. Nothing is worse than an UTI especially when you're trying to recover from surgery. Take care and take it easy...
Wishing you well from Lakewood,
Cindy

LOL, I'm with faith. Can we have a video? {giggle giggle}. Just kidding. I know that's not nice, but it's only because we love ya!

Drink some pure cranberry juice. Honest, after all the years I worked in the vitamin/health food stores, this is the one thing that knocks it out. If you get on anti-b's, take some probiotics for the 2weeks after, or eat unsweetened yogurt everyday.

Glad your back, and with a bit of humor. {{Hugs}}

Peace,
Dee

No worries ~ we all want you back in the saddle when you are good and ready and not before! Take as long as you need and don't push yourself...not good for the recovery! Hang in there...one day at a time...slowly, but surely, this will all be behind you and a memory!

Oh...Michelle is a sweetie!! How wonderful that she did you those meals...God is Good!

So sorry to hear about the UTI...not fun times! Be faithful with your meds and REST!!

With Love,
Camille

Welcome back! One of the beautiful things that comes out of challenging times is that the love people have for you becomes very evident. You are obviously very loved by friends and family. What a blessing! May you have a speedy recovery!

Been there and done that with the PT and walker! I missed out on the UTI - whew. Hope you are getting through the shots in the stomach to reduce the chance of blood clots too. Yes, yes, the PT hurts like HELL. Let the tears flow, but keep doing the exercises. You can have the best implant, surgeon, hospital, etc. But if you don't do the exercises, you won't get your function back. Ice, elevation, pain pills. Repeat. The IS the other side of the mountain and you WILL get there. {{{{hugs}}}}

Oh I've been wondering how things are going for our FarmGirl!
PT sounds like quite a work-OVER instead of a work-OUT! But I hear it works wonders!
We'll keep you in our thoughts & prayers, Cindy, for quicker & gentler healing.

God's sweet Grace will help you honor this time in your life and is with you as you gather your strength and courage ...moving forward and beyond~

with warm wishes * Maria

Sorry to read about the UTI. I know that's not what you need when you're trying to recover from surgery. It's wonderful to have such great neighbors and friends who are there to help you out.

Boy, you'd better take it easy, shuffling and all. Sounds like you're having no fun at all right now. How much more therapy do you have in store? Hopefully after a short while you will think this is all worth it and these bad times will not even be a memory. ( unless you re-read this post)

Truly----I am SO sorry----having a recuperating knee is difficult enough. That, combined with a UTI, is torture!
Do you have a lovely tote that hangs on your walker in order to carry all your "necessities" around??? I would make you one and send it, but by the time I'd actually finish it, you'd be running a marathon!
Seriously, I wish you the best and keep you in my prayers.

man, i HATE those UTI's, much less with a recoup-from-surgery-due-to-a-bum-knee too? (primal growl)

hope by today you're feeling relief!

Oh, Cyn, I'm so sorry all this is happening!

One day at a time. That usually works. And each day is closer to recovery.

Cranberry Juice!

If you are like me you can not stand to drink that pretty red juice.

Good Luck!
