Slow and steady wins the race...

This is me, only hairier

....Or at least gets you to the finish line!

I've had my ups and downs of late, and spend an awful lot of time flat on my back.
I am NOT a sleep on your back kind of a gal. I am a tummy/side sleeper, so this has been a tough one.
I feel like there are owies on me bum, and the achiness is driving me batty.
All things considering, that's not so bad!

I don't live in Haiti.
I have very generous friends who have been bringing in meal after meal after meal.
Really delicious meals.
Meals I am asking recipes for.
I have a husband who does what he can for me, pretty much w/o complaining.
I am now on pain level 3, on a scale of 1 to 10.
(that's WITH the pain meds, cause I'm no dummy)
I don't have to give myself blood thinner injections anymore.
I can, if I want to, have a very small glass of wine with dinner.
(just don't drive or work with heavy machinery....AS IF!)

A couple of days ago I felt like there was a turning point here.
My head didn't feel foggy.
I was able to read a bit.
Put a small "honey do" list together.
I could do a few of the therapy exercises on my own, w/o Pete's help.
I didn't feel as if I needed to be watched over like a newborn.
Pete could actually go outside the house and I didn't panic.
Almost normal feeling.

And that's a GOOD thing!

xoxo,
Cindy

Thanks to all who have commented here and have been praying for us. We can really feel it, and have been encouraged by friends from all over the world.
I am blessed.

we've got your back girl ... the power of prayer is WOW isn't it?

There's a never ending list here, but we're elated and powering thru post partum ... the baby is a jewel and the chickens love having gram here ... roast in the oven, cookies in the pantry and the dishwasher hummin' ... it doesn't get much better

soooooo glad to hear my friend is on the mend.

How dear it is to have friends that know your needs and take care of you~
The meals are such a gift, and I'm sure that they are prepared with love.

Boy, this one sounds really tough, and you've been on my mind as you go through it.

I can only imagine the frustration of the pain being in such a place that it prevents you from doing hardly any moving around at all.

I'm hoping you can feel up to blogging regularly soon, as it would be an outlet for you, and it is obviously a ministry as well. I can see how many lives you touch, just by reading your comments.

May the Lord grant you quick and sure healing, and the grace to give you distractions, or to use the time to draw even closer to Him.

Oh, and this is a fantastic time for Knee Art. Great photo op, too.

Lots of hugs,
~Faith

Yes, what a good report! Pain level 3 out of 10 is good news. Soon your pain will be a memory only, but not until you can sleep on your side or tummy-right?

A husband like yours is priceless, but I bet you know that!Prayers for your even speddier recovery.

Ah, c'mon Cindy, you don't climb up on your huge tractor every morning and go get the mail out of the box?!
I hope each brings you a little closer to feeling better.

So good to hear Cindy! Be patient with yourself ~ it was major what they did to you!! And you will come through and feel even better on the other side of this.

Blessings,
Camille

Glad to hear that you are coming out of the fog and turning your first corner! There will be more corners ahead, so stay the course! I'm a tummy sleeper too, so it was pure torture for me to sleep on my back so long. I got to sleep on my sides after a couple of weeks, thanks to some well-placed pillows. Really good sleep is a rare thing after this surgery until you get past 2-3 months. And don't you want to celebrate BIG time now that those dreadful shots are over?! They really creeped me out!

I have been told that a knee replacement is harder to recover from than a hip replacement.

Who would think?
Glad your feeling better.
