UP CLOSE, AND PERSONAL...UPDATED 10-6-10

Alexander Lee and his memere, Cyn

Our grandson Alex is very sick.
The pediatric neurologist believes he has SMA1,
Spinal Muscular Atrophy
NOT a good diagnosis
The children can live anywhere from just a few weeks to just a few years.
A week ago they drew blood for genetic testing, but it will take up to 4 weeks before they get a definite diagnosis.
UPDATE:
Test results in tonight confirm the neurologists suspicions.

Alex

Alex has just been admitted to the hospital.
He has not eaten anything in 24 hours.
For those of you who are prayin' folk, we would appreciate your prayers.
There is MUCH I cannot say right now, or maybe never.
But...

We would covet your prayers.

Though He slay me, yet will I serve Him,

Cindy

UPDATE:

Alex will be having a permanent feeding tube put in very soon. He is no longer able to drink from a bottle. His breathing has become labored, but he is still able to breathe on his own.
The feeding tube will allow his parents some time to come to some decisions about what they will do when the time comes when they might have to ventilate him. I am bringing Austin, (Alex's 9 yo brother) who we have had since Alex was hospitalized, up to the hospital this afternoon. He hasn't seen his mom or Alex since Monday morning.
Thank you everyone for your prayers. Much needed, and much appreciated.

Dear Heavenly Father, I lift up to you this precious little boy and his loving family to you right now. May the doctors have wisdom and the family have your grace and strength at this most trying and difficult time. Please comfort Cindy and her husband, the parents of little Alex and their extended family and friends. If it be your will to heal him, I ask that you would...may your perfect and infallible will be done in his little life. We know that you do all things well...how blessed we are to belong to You! Please carry this family through these days and help them to know the comfort of your peace through these days.

I pray all this in the name of our precious Saviour, the LORD Jesus Christ.

Don't let the Dr.s tell you a timeframe, we were told this with Cortney when she was just 2-1/2 yrs old that if she lived to be 4yrs old it would be a miracle but God knew His plans for her and she is ow 19yrs old and doing great. She's blessed our lives in so many ways, we can't even begin to count them.

HUGS to you all, espcially Alex.

Be with the doctors, Lord, give them wisdom. Of course, Lord, we pray for a miracle...which only You can do. If it is Your Will...heal this child...for we know that You are more than able. And we place all of this burden at Your feet...

Oh how my heart breaks for your family. To just get to say hello and to be confronted with the fear of saying goodbye so soon. My husband and I walked this path once with our daughter right after she was born. A miracle took place. I felt tremendous peace to the point I was willing to say with full faith, 'Thy will be done' and I was okay with whatever decision the Lord made. We still have our daughter but sometimes I know the Lord says no, I've sent them for just a short visit. My prayer for you is that you will feel the Lord's comforting arms around you and all those whose care Alex has been placed in will feel his guiding hand.
