Rustic French Bread
The makings of a couple of lovely loaves of French bread, rising in my mixing bowl.
An even mix of whole wheat and white flour, it bakes up nice and crusty...
perfect accompaniment to a steaming hot bowl of soup.

Butternut squash and kale minestrone
I found this recipe yesterday while perusing my friend Wendy's blog, thelocalcook.com
Someone had commented about Wendy's favorite root vegetable recipes and linked up to her own favorite.
You can find it HERE
I had the squash on the counter, kale frozen in bags from this summers bounty, homemade chicken stock, and cannellini beans I had frozen in ziplocs this fall after cooking up a 3# batch, and.... a mess of fresh/frozen tomatoes.
Easy-peasy!
I didn't add the pasta, which would have made it a true minestrone, but with the bread being served I just didn't think we needed another heavy carb.
Been missin' everyone like crazy and hope to be blog hoppin' this evening and over the next few days.
xoxo,
Cindy

Does it get any better than homemade bread and a homemade soup?! It looks wonderful and I'm wishing for aroma-blogging :)
Blessings!

Well if that don't cure what's ailin' ya on a dreary winter day, I don't know what will! Not only does is sound delicious, but it looks purdy, too! :~P
Like Gail said ~ wish we could catch a wiff of that delicious aroma~~~~
Blessings!
Now that is some comfort food!! Perfect for these cold winter days!
I hope that something works out for you..with the job idea! I'll keep you in my prayers!!
Hugs!!
Soup looks so good. Nothing like fresh bread with hot soup. Rebekah
It looks fabulous! I wanted to mention something not so healthy, but yummy nevertheless. We did this long ago when I was a Girl Scout. Take some good sized chunks of any leftover homemade white bread that you have, dip all sides in sweetened condensed milk, roll in sweetened shredded coconut, put on a roasting stick, and toast it over a fire. It's to die for!
We had bean soup and homemade bread for dinner last night also! That minestrone looks fabulous!
Yummy! Sorry I missed you the other night . . . Troy was on the treadmill (NOISY!) and it wasn't until I went to get something out of the freezer I realized you had been there.
Wonderful looking bread rising and yummy looking hearty soup! Your family is blessed. Missing you too my friend! How are the plans coming along?? Do you have a name yet?? Any further thoughts? Moving forward? Only answer as you have time...by the looks of this post I think you have what it takes. :)
Many blessings,
Camille
You have made me hungry for soup and homemade bread. It looks so good!
Your bread and bagels look scrumptious! I can tell you are quite the cook!
