Blog hopping yesterday led me to Blissfully Content
...where I found a quick tutorial on making dishrags from old towels and fabric scraps.
I had thought briefly about posting a photo of my really ratty dishrags but then figured you might be so disgusted you would not read any further and would quickly move on.
So...no ugly old dishrag pics for you.
You can thank me later.

I used an old napkin (the red and white piece above) as a template.
She recommends 12x12...which I find to be a bit too big for my liking.

4 new/old dishrags yesterday
And 4 today...
So simple, even a child could do it!
These will look all frayed after they have been run through the wash a few times..
Which suits me just fine.
And since I use a fresh dishrag every single day, 8 will be enough to get me through a week.
How sweet are these?
And wouldn't they make an inexpensive bridal shower gift, perhaps with a new scrubbie and a bottle of your favorite dishsoap?
You could even buy one of those 12 pack of white washcloths and make them from brand spankin' new materials!

Recycling at it's best and very clever -- I have a couple old towels that I can do this with -- got to get my sewing machine out. BTW, your machine is great. Mine came from a garage sale - $20.00 -- it was almost new. My old one had gone out and I prayed the Lord would provide me a new one and he did :)

And that machine...it is less vintage than mine...my Mom gave me her *old* one when I got married. It's about 45 years old. I *love* it! :)

You've inspired me to pull out my sewing machine. For years I would make dresses, purses, headbands...whatever!! And it's been to long..i need to do something fun over this summer. I may make some of these!! They are cute, love your colors/fabric you used!! :D

Cyn, I've been purging like crazy in my house. I'm moving next month down to south central Texas to be closer to my grandson and daughter. he's gonna be 2 in September and I'm so ready to be close. I'm moving to a little country house, with a cool front porch. I hope the mosquitoes don't carry me away. I love this idea tho. I've gotten rid of most of my old towels...just much less room in my new house. But I have some grain sack fabric that I've wondered what to do with and this would be great. I can gather some old towels when I get there. I'd LOVE to find a $5 (or even $25) Goodwill sewing machine to use, but if I don't I'll just get one from Walmart. Most of my sewing will be simple. Looks like things are going well for you since I first saw your blog and you too were moving, tho not by choice. Hope you get a chance to check my blog out occasionally.
