Vintage (read: my mama's) clothes rack
Bet you thought this was gonna be a depressing post, what with the title and all!
Not at all!
The sun has not been out for several days, and since there is only the two of us now, laundry is just down to a couple of loads a week, plus a bedding load every other week or so.
I've been using this portable drying rack for several days now, and I am amazed what a good 10 hours on the rack will do!
So...till the sun shines again, I'll be drying indoors the way my mama used to.

With the cold season upon us, I have had a craving for some soothing herbal teas.

I have several bags of herbal teas from my winter herbal CSA that I have been using.
Mindfulness is one of my favorites!
About 2 TBL per cup of simmering water
A blend of lemon balm, linden, spearmint, raspberry leaf, vervain, lavender, chamomile, feverfew, catnip, and wild blueberry.
It even sounds good for you, eh?
Steep for 5 minutes and strain
Oh, yeah!
Make-up and lipstick
every.single.day.
Cause I have to look at myself in the mirror!

I use a clothes rack too. I began doing that when my children were small and just kept using it. I like the moisture the drying clothes put into the air in the winter. I need to try those teas. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog and the links you have to other home keeping type of blogs too. It's refreshing to read about others who are of like mind in keeping our homes a sanctuary. Oh and that tea pot is just darling. We do not have a CSA group that delivers tea in winter. That would be so cool. Mindfulness. That is surely a message. Be blessed.

♥ the drying rack. I need one BUT my mind remembers my Momma's -- sturdy -- the ones I see for sale now are so flimsy. Maybe I just need to get over that :)

I really need to get one of those drying racks, too. I have one that my hubby made hanging above the bathtub, but need one that can be placed in front of the fire.

How nice that you 'put your face on'(as my grandma used to say) every day just for you. I think that makes each day more special and anyone who sees you that day (even if it is just hubby!) will feel a little more special, too!

Sweet post my friend. Too cute...that lipstick/make-up comment and seeing the *evidence* on the tea cup. AND...I have the VERY SAME whistling tea kettle!! The exact same! It was a wedding gift nearly 21 years ago. Too fun that we have matching stuff on our stoves. :)

Cindy, I love this! You have no idea. :) Your tea sounds lovely, love the tea pot...think I'm going to go get mine out and put it to good use, I often forget about it. I also love the idea of using the drying racks indoors on days that are not quite laundry friendly. Now to convince my hubby that it's a good thing. :)

I use clothes racks too and am so grateful for them in the cooler weather. LOVE that tea pot. I've never seen anything like that cover, I'll have to keep my eyes out whenever I go thrifting. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHerb tea always a favorite of mine. I have never seen a vintage tea cozy such as yours, what a great treasure to have, as I am always trying to keep my tea pot warm with dish cloths.

My clothes rack is old, old, old and beginning to be not so stable. IOW, it gets a load on and collapses; come to think of it, reminds me of me - grin- .

ReplyDeleteI use to have several clothes racks like yours years back. Now I have an dindoor clothes line. I never use a clothes dryer.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a felt-lined tea cozy like that, but it sure looks practical, and durable. The tea sounds perfect for an indoor day doing laundry and whatever else keeps us indoors.
ReplyDeleteOf course lipstick, what ladies' drinking cups don't have lipstick on them? ( grandkids often sport lipstick on their cheeks too!)

Hi Cindy! I've been thinking about getting one of those drying racks myself. I'd love to have a clothesline outside, but hubby is dragging his feet on that. Maybe one of these days!
ReplyDeleteSmart idea on the clothes rack! I had two of those and I used them for drying herbs in the big garage we used to have. Now, I'm not even sure where the racks are! So many things got jumbled during the move over two years ago to the rental house and then again to this home. You can still get those racks at old-timey hardware stores around here!
ReplyDeleteLUV it. I have a nice wooden drying rack like that too, it's funny that it's so old and when I'm setting it up it feels like it'll fall apart. but that little thing does it's job! I'm a huge coffee drinker but that tea does sound healthy/delish Cyn! You're still in my thoughts and prayers sweetie.
