Orange ya glad?

Orange/grapefruit/lemon/ginger
marmalade!

Last week on a day off from work I stopped by a little grocery store not too far from home.
They had a clearance rack of fruits and veggies I could not pass up.
A LARGE bag of a variety of oranges for .99 was a deal I could not refuse.
And, wouldn't ya know it...I had just watched an episode of Barefoot Contessa where she made a batch of orange marmalade!
Sweet!
I dug up the recipe off the internet, and got myself to work.
Always, always one to change up a recipe, I decided that instead of the two lemons the recipe called for, I would use one lemon and part of a red grapefruit.
And throw in some grated fresh ginger for a bit of a kick.
The recipe is easy peasy, and pretty much anyone could do it.

I made another change to the recipe in that where she has you keep the pieces of fruit chunky, I chose to use my immersion blender and break things up a bit.
I did that step after about one hour of the simmering process.
Personal preference.

Homemade sourdough english muffins with marmalade!

Me: Knock. Knock.
You: Who's there?
Me: Banana

Me: Knock. Knock.
You: Who's there?
Me: Banana

Me: Knock. Knock.
You: WHO'S THERE????
Me: Orange
You: Orange who?
Me: Orange ya glad I didn't say banana???

In Christ alone!

  8. I love this. When I read the title the first thing that came to mind was the knock-knock joke. Even my granddaughters know that joke. Now I can tell them ( and maybe help them make ) about orange marmalade. And then I'll ask them , "orange you glad" ?

  9. My mouth is watering! I made some orange marmalade for Christmas gifts and saved myself a jar back. It's delicious - but I've nothing to spread it on since I gave up gluten! ha!
