WHAT'S UP WITH THIS??

The teeny egg on the left was laid by one of the 7 Isa Browns a couple of days ago. The egg on the right was laid by one of them today. They have been laying steadily for a few weeks now, with "normal" size (large/extra large) eggs. Then out of the blue comes the teeny egg. Then today...mongo size. It will not even fit in the egg carton!!!
I'm bettin' it's a triple yolker!

Wow, cool...I've never raised chickens...just hampsters. Somehow I bet it is different. Anyway, what pretty eggs...I love brown eggs...they are so tasty...

Oooh, that's so weird!

I just like the way brown eggs look!

BTW, I see you had a Mémere, too. In our family, that was the name reserved for my great-grandmother, who lived to be 95.

I'm also a Michiganian/gander, at least by birth.

Wow, so do you just take them and eat them? Do you have to get them cleaned or anything? I'm so not cool in regard to chicken eggs....

You have a lovely family. I enjoyed the photos very much.

Have a wonderful day!

I have never seen a triple yoker. How cool. I miss stuff like that.

So who got the big one? And how many yolks.
I don't like eating eggs on their own but love them in cakes, meringues, quiches.....

Whoa! Cool comparison, side by side in the hands. I've heard young bird's eggs can be inconsistent, but never suspected anything quite as much as that!!! (Wildside here as Anon)

Haven's showed the ginormous egg to Pete yet, as he is at beer, er, I mean, deer camp for a couple of days...so haven't broken into it. Will keep you updated.

Isn't it odd how things like that just happen. I have a little ceramic bowl with a bird's nest one of my oldest sons found years ago with teeny tiny eggs my chickens have laid over the years..they come with just a pinpoint size yolk so they dry really well just put in that nest. Some are probably 15 years old and made the move from Calif 4 and 1/2 years ago. Have you had one of the rubbery shelled, or wrinkled shelled eggs yet? It all amazes me!

That`s one big egg there! I bet it would taste good though. Have you ever had a goose egg? They taste just like chicken ones but are three times the size.

It's a great visual representation of the Scripture that says:

"He who is faithful with a little, is faithful with a lot!"

How interesting. You must have a 'moody' hen.

Whoa! That poor chicken! The little one is so cute. My aunt has a lot of Bantem chickens and they lay little eggs like that.

I can't wait to see your Christmas decorations! I love this time of year :o)
