I have many "servants" in my house....
washer/dryer
vacuum cleaner
bread machine
Cuisinart
microwave
etc, etc, etc
One of my new favorites is an immersion blender.
This little guy can puree a pot of soup in seconds!
When the job is too small for my blender, I reach for this.
It would be perfect for homemade baby food, and it is the tool I reach for any time I want my homemade cream of tomato, or spinach soup to have that creamy, velvety texture.
I think I spent around $20 for it a couple years ago at Target, and have seen them at tag sales for far less.
What's the one tool you wouldn't be without?

Oh that is a hard one. I opened up my appliance cupboard to have a look. My kids just laugh at me because they think I have every appliance known to man. A few summers ago I got a slushie maker that has a spout at the bottom. They asked me . . how is that different than a blender? Funny this is though, they sure don't mind when they see it coming out of hiding.
This is such a hard one. I love my Kitchen Aid professional mixer, but when I'm in need of something on a smaller scale, I'd have to agree with you and my hand held blender. It's great, and with the right attachments is a powerful little tool!
When I walk thru my kitchen I always 'pet' my kitchen aid mixer cuz I think it is so pretty! Oh, sometimes I use it too.
My litte Kitchenaid chopper. And yes, the big mixer, too.
I guess mine would have to be my bread machine!!
Handsdown....CUISINART...chop, chop chop, blend, blend blend ....gives the illusion that I'm a pro.
I do have one those little blenders as you mentioned and I do use it for many little things....in fact I think I have two....ebay????
I think a whisk is one of my favorite kitchen gadgets!! It's so handy for mixing.
How IS G?????
Oh, my stick blender, hands down! Same as what you're calling your immersion blender. Soup? Nope. Soap! And lotion...
I'd be lost without it...
I love my immersion blender, too. So much handier than hauling out the 'proper' blender!
But, I have lots of toys...right now I like my little garlic twister...
But there's really nothing better than a sharp knife!
