VANITY, VANITY...

This Farmgirl loves most things old...
dishes, furniture, pictures, Farmboy, jewelry, etc...
BUT...
When it comes to fragrance I am always on the lookout for something different.
Something that has staying power!
Here are some of my latest fragrance finds this past year.

My newest favorite is:

L'Heure Bleue, by Guerlain

At first it is overwhelming
Kind of grandma-ish
But after less than an hour there is this soft, subtle, lingering fragrance that I have fallen in love with.
Could it be that after all these years, I have finally found my "signature" fragrance?

Have you found yours?
If so, what is it?

Gosh, I have to be so careful. I am so sweet (lol) that anything with a hint of sweetness gets sickingly sweet within a couple of minutes after hitting my skin. I normally have to wear citrus notes. Most of my cologne is men's--or uni-sex, they like to call it! Annick Goutal's Eau d'Hadrien, Floris' Limes, Penhaligon's Castile. Those three are my favs.

Cyn, I have been in love with the idea of L'Heure Bleu ever since the 1970s when the advertising campaign featured a blue-toned photo of the Seine. Or perhaps that was Rive Gauche.

I wear Coco Mademoiselle for day and Coco for night. I have never liked Chanel No. 5, though.

In summer, it is Grain de Folie, a lighter scent from Paris.

For 30 years I have worn Ciara which I started wearing because I smelled it on someone else and liked it so much I had to ask what they were wearing. It is my forever fragrance. I was given Falling in Love by Philosophy for Christmas and really like it too as well as Amazing Grace from Philosophy. The last two fragrances are for me, they make me feel really good when I smell them, I can't explain it you need to try them if you can.

When I wear perfume (on special occasions) I wear Gio. You have quite the collection of past perfume's, that's neat.

I love the green bean idea. That made my mouth water just reading it! Will try that one this weekend.

It all depends on the time of year with me!
Summer something cool and fresh and winter something warming like 'Rush'
I love Coco Mademoiselle too.

At present? I am all about Belara made by Mary K.

Past faves? Ambush in the 60s, Heaven Scent in the 70s, Estee Lauder in the 80s, Ciara in the 90s.
I love all sorts of different scents on others - like Clinique Happy - but find that I cannot wear them. They smell different on me.

I know...more info than you asked for...
:o)

Isn't this fun?

I love learning about what fragrance people wear.

Yvonne La Fleur, and Chanel Allure are my signature fragrances, with Pikake for "vacation in Hawaii" memories.

Hope you get a vaction soon!

ummm so many choices...I am really a body lotion sort of gal myself..purfumes sort of make me sick unless they are pleasing and light...my all time favorite scents
Archipelago 1929 (hence the date 1929) this was a nice vintage inspired scent a cross between a really sweet smelling cigar/woodsy/musk gowd that stuff was great...it wore so perfectly without overpowering. but now it is nowhere to be found (I hate when they discontinue:( I have been liking Philosophy Marshmellow these days!

Truth be told this strikes a chord with me...and knowing me like you do, you knew it would....

where do I begin...I've loved fragrances since I could sniff them out on my grandma's bureau...dark blue bottles of Evening in Paris and lovely cut glass aspirators full of granny smelling potions...

in high school...ma Griffe...Worth...Estee Lauder...and whatever else babysitting monies could buy....

later...Joy by John Patou....Norell...The original Sung by Alfred...

jump to the present...Nanette Lapore....Herve Lagere...( that day with you at Nordie's with Rosa)...
Bvlgari Omnia and Notte...and the latest and the greatest....dumttadadum...
Versace Crystal Noir....I'm having a fit because I know it's too heavy for summer and I'm bamboozled...and don't know what to do ...don't really want to look for something else but know that I have too...soooooo you, me at the Nordstrom counter...meet me there would ya?

I already said this on Jill's perfume post. . .remember Charley perfume? I wore that all through high school. Now I tend to keep the fragrances at a low level. I'll have to go and check your favorite out.

Ok, Ok, I'll comment.
I L-O-V-E
Samsara by Geurlain but have been out of it for years - tres triste!
I wear Chanel No. 5 every day because I ration my 2 piece de resistance...Dolce Vita by Dior and...Ugh, I still cant get the nerve to give away the name of my secret weapon - both are only available in Paris and both smell like they were made just for my chemistry.
If anyone is going to France soon- can I put in an order? I am desperate!

I think White Linen by Estee Lauder was my signature in my 20's...then Dior Poison. Then I happened onto Yves St. Laurent 'Paris'. DH loves it. It's got these rose notes and cedar. When I first wore it oldest DD was on my hip and I was in an antique shop. I was 28...there was this big tall cowboy following me all over the store. Finally I just stopped kind of preturbed and looked at him and said, "why are you following me?"

He apologized all over the place and was very sincere when he said in a Texas drawl "I'm so sorry ma'am I didn't mean to bother you it's just you smell so PURTY." He was a hunk too!OOOKKKKK. So I booked it out of that shop. Dh loves the Paris perfume. I also like old fashioned White Shoulders. Reminds me of my mom.

I found mine in a fragrance shop in Miami years ago...Now I order it over the internet. But I go out in public so rarely a little bottle lasts forever!
No point in wearing it to hoe!

hello cyn, you and i like all the same things and share the same name..you would love a line of fragrances called Antonias's Flowers, produced in the Hamptons by a florist but manufactured in the french style, if you order a small size, they send samples of all four of their fragrances, quite lovely
