EVENING ON THE LAKE

Cyn, behind the wheel.
No worries...autopilot!

Farmboy comes from a large family...10 kids, all still with us!
His oldest sister, Margie, and hubby Tommy drove up from Texas this week and several of us were together last evening on sister Cindi's (and her hubby Tom) boat.
(or should I say "ship"?)

Sunset on Lake Michigan

We had such a lovely time last evening! The boat/ship seems massive!
It is a 42 foot, tri-level Carver.
This bad boy sleeps 8, has a full kitchen, and 2 bathrooms!!!
A cottage on the water!
The lake was perfect, with less than 1 foot waves on the way out, and nearly calm on the way back in.
The ONLY problem I had....
I don't like boats so much.
I was queasy for most of the 3 1/2 hours out, and thankfully had only about 3-4 ounces of a really nice Cabernet before I knew I should not take another drop!
Couldn't really eat any of the snackie stuff, as I knew THAT would not go over well!
Had a few pretzels to keep the heebie-jeebies away, but that was it.
Staying up on top really helped and if I kept my eyes on the horizon I was OK.

It really was a wonderful evening....and really good for me to get out of the house.
(I don't get out much anymore!!!)

Recipes from my cooking class coming soon!

I was born on a farm in Jackson, Michigan!! For real!!! I own a tiny little farm here in NJ called Sweetbriar [where the Prayer Walk is].

Thanks for stopping by my blog tonight. You shared words of wisdom.

Have you read the book CRAZY LOVE by Francis Chan? I'm still reading it but it speaks much about those who say, "LORD, Lord..." that God will say to, "depart, I never knew you."

He focuses on being true worshipers - and followers of Christ with completely surrendered lives - as Christ intended it to be.

Great pics of family and Lake MI.
I was only 5 when we moved away... then spent my summer in ST. Mary's, Ohio, on my grandparents farm! I've always told people I was a farm girl!! so funny to find you here tonight!

thanks again - I'll check in from time to time too!

Choosing JOY,
Stephanie

Oh, does that look WONDERFUL! One of the joys of summer is time with family that you don't get to see during all those long winter months! That sunset is gorgeous!

Hi Cyn!
Despite your inner waves...looks like you all had a beautiful time on the waves of Lake Michigan! Scott's sunset photo should be up as a "Sky Watch Friday" post! It's stunning... as is the captain steering the boat in the first photo!
Showers of Blessings for you,
~ Maria

Hi Cyn - greetings from Texas! I just ran across your blog this morning at Berte's. I have read back some and plan to do some more - I love your gardening method - kinda free-spirited - I tend to be that way with mine. I'm looking forward to trying some of your recipes and am enjoying your "make do or do without" posts! I'm all for that! It's so interesting to see how folks do things in different parts of the country and enjoy those differences! I'm going to add you to my blogroll so I can check back with you!

OMG would have loved to go to your cooking class! Please let me know next one your having! I luv learning tips from other people! As far as the rooster, I didn't cook him any differently! It does depend on the age though. He was rather young only about 5 months at the most so he was not tough. If they have been around for a while you would want to save it for a soup or something that would cook longer. Good luck!

Glad you had a good time even with the quesy feeling. That isn't a good feeling, on water or land.

Your pictures are great. You can't even see the green in your face. teehee!

Hi Cyn,
So glad you got to spend time with family, but know what it feels like to have motion sickness. Loved your pictures especially of the sun set on the water and you at the wheel you looked like a natural!
Blessings,
Sue
