My Favorite Things...

Unexpected package from HomemakerAng

Ang and I have been friends for a few years now, and tho we don't typically exchange Christmas presents, this year was to be an exception.
I was tickled pink to find this sweetly wrapped box of goodies...
check out her "wrapping"....a Christmas tablecloth!!!

Chicken with stock...just add barley and simmer for 1/2 hour
Cherry pie filling...
Zucchini marmalade...
Canned breakfast sausage...(their own piggy)
And other wonderful homemade goodness!
(Ang canned over 500 quarts of food this year!)
LOVE the vintage santa tray!

Handmade/Homemade goodness from dear Joy

Joy and I exchange gifts every year, and this year was no exception.
Here is my favorite....
HOW SWEET IS THIS?
Perfect for my sofa

Can a girl have too many cookbooks?

Books from kids
Books from friends
They are all at my bedside table and every night I pick one up and read.
Little sticky post-its are everywhere, with endless possibilities!
(I plan on getting to be good friends with "Julia" this year!)

For now, tho, I am in super house cleaning mode, knowing that all too soon I will not be able to do much around here.

With knee replacement surgery scheduled for Jan. 8., and most of the kids off living their own lives, it will likely be Pete who picks up the slack....
and the laundry...
and does the cooking...
and cleans the toilets....
and lets the dog/cats out...
and helps me shower and get dressed....
and feeds the chickens...
and...
and...
HEY!
I'd do it for him!
Wait a minute....
I ALREADY do all those things!

Poor Farmboy...wonder if he really knows what he is getting into?

We'll talk real soon,
xoxo

Speaking from a little bit of experience I have some helpful hints from nursing Don back to health ... at least you'll have all of your mental facilities ...haha

Create and inventory list of all the things Pete WON'T need to get :

fridge inventory
freezer inventory
paper goods
coffee
chicken feed
dog food, etc etc etc

In a corner in the kitchen I supplied a basket full of napkins, sweetnlow, paper plates, paper cups ... breath mints, and anything I could to make the early recovery days easy-er ...Men have a harder time "searching" for things ...so make it visable

REMEMBER .. each day follows another ... you will feel different each day ...LET THE PHONE RING ... you can always call back in a few moments when you can get to it!! I posted a voice mail message daily as to our progress and updates ... if you don't feel like answering .. your caller knows how you're doing because of the message.

REMEMBER we have the peace of God that passes all inderstanding AND Vicadon!!

love ya

Nope, you can't have too many cookbooks.

I have a few cookbooks from monasteries on French Provincial cookbooks. I love those -- wonder why I never remember to pull them out... lol I've not been blessed with lots of time for cooking, but that's why FP should be good for me. :oP

Good, I have a date to be praying for you!

Great gift items. Enjoy them :)

IF you can have too many cookbooks, please do not call the cookbook police on me, lol.

Happy New Year!

Blessings!

Hi Cyn,
What a wonderful surprise, loved all the gifts.

I will be praying for you and for farmboy in the upcoming weeks. He sounds like my dh who can do just about anything.

Praying God's continued blessings on you and your family this New Year.

I'll be thinking of you when you have that knee replacement. Hope it goes smoothly. My husband just had his hip replaced a few weeks ago - no problem! (except for the whining).
Enjoy your downtime - read lots.

I got Steamy Kitchen as a gift too! Love it
