I'M VOTING....3 X A DAY

Just call me "Yum"!

Puttin' my money where my mouth is and getting 1/4 of a cow from Maple Valley Farms.
Grass fed, lean, and treated with dignity.
Matt and Ang have an awesome off-grid farm about an hour north of us and have just begun selling this years beef. We talked about this at length and tho it is a lot of money initially, it will be enough for our family for a year, and that's with giving some away.

It won't be ready till mid May, so I'm going to try to use up what we have in the freezer to make room for approximately 175# of beef!

Every time we put that fork to our mouths, we are voting.
For most Americans that is at least 3 x a day!
I want to make my vote count.
We are making choices that never crossed our minds before.

Organic vs non-organic
Grass fed vs CAFO (concentrated animal feeding operations...BAD)
low spray fruit vs heavily sprayed fruit
organic chicken feed vs GMO chicken feed
Pizza Hut vs homemade pizza

Every time I shop and make wise choices I am telling my grocer what is important to me.
It's the least I can do.

xoxo,
Cindy

Great choice, Cindy. You'll be glad you did this. And I'm voting, too!

Way to go! We've order a quarter as well, but it won't be ready until November. Luckily there is another farmer who sells grass fed, no antibiotics, etc by the cut and we can pick up things we need from her until our quarter is ready. We had our first beef this week and loved it!

And I'm voting too, although it has led to some interesting dilemmas. Moral dilemmas in a grocery store, who would have thought?

Keep up your good work, it is encouraging for me to read!

Great choice! We just got our annual 1/2 beef grown locally this past week too. I agree....local and organic is best. I love having Mona for milk and my girls for eggs. Wish I had room to raise a steer here too. I would. Now to get the garden going! We had a little snow... yes snow!.. today! I am getting a little tired of wintery spring!

Hi Cindy!
I know exactly what you are writing about ... My shopping cart just doesn't go down certain places at the supermarket anymore!

It's awful just to think about how the animals are treated... let alone what the poor things are injected with!

... same with veggies...
trying to grow as much on our own... but we only have 1/2 acre...
take care dear ♥

You know, if everyone of us who say these things matter acted upon them, things would change. It does seem there are enough of us to begin a change, and I like the way you promote and support this. Thank-you!

We are raising our own chickens and turkeys for the freezer and this year eating one of our own lambs instead of selling them all. I have added to my kitchen "tools' more items to use in preserving our produce. You give me lots of inspiration.

Thank you, Cindy, for giving me something to think about...I especially liked what you said about every time I shop (and make choices) I am telling my grocer what is important to me.

I got my first order of grass fed and finished beef not long ago...and there is even a difference in the taste! Very good! But that cute cow at the top almost makes me want to be vegetarian...she's so pretty! :)

Blessings,
Camille
