Wonder spray
I was running low on my homemade, all-purpose spray cleaner, so a triple batch was in order.
Recipe:
2 TBL white vinegar
1 teas. borax
16 oz. HOT water
Put above in spray bottle, shake till borax is dissolved.
Add 1/4 cup dish soap.
That's it!
I use this stuff EVERYWHERE!

Tabouli
Perfect side for the fish, and SO easy to throw together.
I nearly always have seedless cukes, green onions, and tomatoes so I only had to get some fresh parsley.
Won't be long before the garden has enough to pick.

Fresh, raw, cabbage/apple slaw!
I saw Michelle, from She Looketh Well, put together this slaw yesterday via a video on her blog, and knew I would want to try it.
She could hardly keep her kids out of it, they love it so much!
Check it out and see why!
This stuff is addicting.
I kid you not...I was just like her kids!
Digging in forkful after forkful, I am now glad I used a whole head or red cabbage.
SO good!
This will also be on the plates tonight along with the fish and tabouli.
LOTS of color next to a piece of white fish, eh?

Pete and Sam, finishing up the garden fencing
I am SO late in getting in my lettuce, carrots, peas, etc, as we were waiting for time to put the fencing up around the garden beds.
Finally!
And today it rained.
All day.

Seed potatoes
So....while it rained I got my seed potatoes chitted (cut) and will let them dry (heal) for at least 24 hours before planting.
I think this will not be enough, so some time this week I will head to the farm market for another pound or two.
Growing potatoes is very rewarding!
Plant that piece of potato, but reap 4-6 potatoes by late summer.
So rewarding!
I am only one woman...
an "older" woman...
I can't do it all, but I do what I can.
And I wouldn't have it any other way!
How busy has YOUR spring been?
xoxo,
Cindy

Dinner sounds yummy!
My daughter and I just planted some potatoes. It is our first try at them...among other things.
Happy gardening :)
I'm exhausted just reading your list. Wow...you have been very busy.
Thanks for the cleaning recipe. You say you use it for everything. Could you tell me exactly? Is it like a window type cleaner, lysol type? disinfectant?
Sounds cheap and easy enough.
Wish I lived next to you to taste some of those yummy treats from your garden. wow.
Get some rest now...you deserve it friend!
xoxo
Holy moly! I'm tired too! The slaw is beautiful, by the way.
Mmmmmmmmmmm....
Red slaw can be awfully delicious. We used to have a couple of recipes when I was growing up that were incredible. I'll have to check out this one, too.

Your all-purpose cleaner sounds good. I'd also like to know how you use this. Do you have to rinse afterwards?
Your slaw recipe looks yummy.

I use vinegar and water for all purpose cleaner but yours sounds more interesting. Im going to try it. Thanks!
I found the recipe for the all-purpose cleaner in the book "Clean House, Clean Planet" by Karen Logan. I use it to clean counters, the outside of the toilet, sinks, spot cleaning the floor, etc. I LOVE it. Pretty much non toxic, and it has a nice clean smell. You can also add several drops of essential oil, but I don't bother as the dish soap I use is typically scented. You definitely have to rinse as it would leave a soap film, but I always have a wet dishrag handy. You could cut back on the dishsoap and add extra vinegar to eliminate some of the soapy feel.
... i found my self giggling ... you said you use it everywhere and the next picture was the fish ... looks as if you wash the fish with it ...well you said you use it everywhere ...
Here South of You
(waving hello) !!!!!!
Are you tired of hearing all these frost warnings and waiting for them to STOP, like we are? Did you wake today confused and think with the blowing wind and rain the weather skipped past summer and went straight to October? I want to get Gardening so this weekend our potatoes and onions are going in the ground and Mother Nature can adjust her bad attitude.
~~HUGS~~
Spring cleaning must be on great minds this week! I posted on vinegar as a cleaner!
Can I just say how much I LOVE Tabouli!! I could eat my weight in the stuff! Haven't made it in a while, so you've inspired me.
My potatoes are sitting on the counter. If I want to plant them Sat. I'd better get to cutting!
Sounds good to me, and yep get busy girl, hugs, Barbara♥
So glad you loved the Cabbage Salad! The children were begging for it again last night, I laughed out loud! "Please mama, can we please have cabbage salad with dinner?"
I love Tabouli too. I have been making a 'grain free' version. I just use chopped nuts, like almonds and sunflower seeds in place of the grain. Obviously more expensive and you can't just woof it down, but still very yummy.
