OPENING DAY AT THE MARKET!

Fulton Farmers Market Entrance

In spite of rain lingering well into the mid-morning hours, the crowd at the market was huge!

Fair Trade Coffee

Fair trade or not, I am NOT spending $1.75 for a cup of coffee!!!

Frizzy Farmgirl

SEE what the damp weather does to my hair???
YIKES!
(I have GOT to stop scowling like this!)

An abundance of flowers and veggies, all ready to pop into the ground.

Jen came armed with her camera also!

The bread guy!

Their "Salt and Pepper" bread is SO good!

"MY" CSA, Trilliuim Haven, is at the market every Saturday.

This week Anja and Michael are selling organic veggies to be planted in your very own garden!
LOTS of ideas up her sleeve for this coming season, some of which include moi!
I will be giving demos at the farm every couple of weeks, using the current weeks offerings.
Also, some classes geared especially to new members, many of whom don't know what to do with some of the more unusual veggies.
One of the first things to learn is how to get that weeks veggies to fit in the fridge!
Prep. Prep. Prep.
It's the key.
As soon as you get home with your bags.... clean, dry, and chop.
Place in appropriate containers and toss the scraps to the chickens.
Oh wait! That's what "I" do!!!!

The "lamb" stall.

Well, lamb isn't all they sell, but it was all I was interested in!
I had made a Lamb Korma with some of their ground lamb I had tucked away in the freezer this winter and wanted to get another pound of it.
Lamb Korma...it's what's for supper this week!

My May Day farm purchases

My 1# of lamb and 2# of homegrown rhubarb.
The rhubarb went into the BEST Rhubarb Crisp ever!

I had a most wonderful time on Saturday, and can't wait to go back.
Once the growing season gets in full swing, there isn't much extra time for fun days like this.
Enjoy it while you can!

xoxo,
Cindy

Oh, I'd love to see your classes! What fun!

Your longer hair looks great!

Can you tell me how to get a week's worth of GARDEN produce into the fridge? LOL

What a blessed way to spend a Saturday, doing something you love with people you love. :o)

Your farmers market puts ours to shame. Honestly!

I love the farmer's markets! Sounds like that is a really big one, as compared to ours which is just a parking lot with the farmers selling from their trucks or trailers! It's all good though.

I see you have been busy working in the flower garden! How wonderful that your neighbors cleaned up your garden plots! It looks great!

The grass fed beef you are getting will be worth it!

And that Tabouli looks fantastic! I'll have to try that!!

I can't believe you only pay $1-75 for a fair trade coffee. I'm convinced everything is cheaper in the US. Expect to pay double that here! I have several farmers markets to choose from - a weekly city market where you can find fruit, veggies, soap, roses, fish, sourdough bread and food stalls but very few organic stalls unfortunately. Then there is a fortnightly organic markets in my nearest town - only local produce is allowed. I should take my camera along sometime. I'd love to have that recipe for that rhubarb crisp -is it on your blog somewhere? I'll check your archives!

Hi! I've been reading your blog for awhile and honestly can't remember if I've ever commented. I am jealous! :) Used to live near an AWESOME farmer's market, but now the closest one is more craft fair than farmer's market. I am also very thankful for you turning me on to Maple Valley Farm's website. Keep up the inspiration! :)

I'm so jealous! The first day for our market was a washout with the massive rains and some flooding! Congrats on doing some classes!

The market looks like so much fun - I was thinking how cheap the coffee was & then read your comment - everything is expensive over here:(
I'd love to do one of your classes - they sound great - once again the whole ocean thing in between makes it difficult!
Hope you're having a lovely day!

I am making my first trip to our farmer's market tomorrow. Playing hooky from work, tee hee! Can't wait!

wow! that market is huge! Our farmer's market is tiny. I don't ever go because it would be too much work to drag the kids there for only a few booths. I keep hoping it will get bigger.
