Thunder & Lightning & Rain, Oh My!

Wet, wet, wet.
Soaking wet.
Scared to go out in the lightning, wet.
Chickens will be glad to stay in their coop, wet.
Doofus dog will hold "it" all day, wet.
Hubby is home from work, wet.
Flood Watch, wet.

So much for getting the gardens started!
We have rain and storms forecast all day, so instead of planting lettuce, radishes, peas and potatoes, I will be baking bread and making a pot of soup.
Keeping cozy in the house is my goal!

I love my "Healthy Bread in 5 Minutes a Day" cookbook.
Throw together some yeast, water, salt and flour...let set on the counter for a few hours, then refrigerate till you need a loaf of bread. Tear out a good chunk (the master recipe will make about 4 1# loaves), shape it, let it rise a bit, then bake.
Truly a no knead bread that is sourdough in flavor, and has limitless variety.
Last week I baked a small, elongated loaf, let it cool, sliced it, spread with butter and garlic powder and a bit of good parmesan cheese, then broiled it till brown.
Hungry for Rosemary Bread?
Toss in some fresh, chopped rosemary!
Garlic /Dill more to your liking?
Easy Peasy!
SO good, and SO simple.
A child could do it.
Really.

How is your Thursday shaping up?

xoxo,
Cindy

I would love to make that bread! Can you tell me how much water and flour to use? Thanks!

I can't wait for getting some of that going here. LOL I have a recipe - don't know if it's exactly the one you are using or not - but taking the time to do it is something else.

I love cozy days that are sandwiched between outdoor days. Makes everything feel balanced and good.

May the Lord bless you greatly, Cyn. May your loaves rise well, your soup be perfectly seasoned, your fires be crackling and hot, and your heart be warm and filled with comfort.

Sounds yummy and easy! I'll have to check it out from the library. I've heard lots of good things about it.

Can you believe this weather!? We were so ready to plant too! I am at my mom's all day today soaking up God and peace and quiet while a dear friend loves on my children. Maybe we all can plant this weekend, Brian has hopes for Saturday!

That recipe looks awesome. I usually use my bread machine and make two loaves at one time. I use the dough cycle.

It was sunny here probably 80 degrees! We went to the park and the store and then planted six cabbages. Did some weeding and took one kid to get his standard testing done since we homeschool. Made breakfast burritos, lunch was sandwhiches and homemade French onion soup and dinner was tacos. Easy!

Just think how soft the ground will be when you go to plant! This could work out quite nicely for you!
Meanwhile, I am glad you are safe inside and baking bread! Delicious bread! Yum!

Hi Cyn,
Please send us some rain we are in a drought. I am so interested in this bread cook book, and am going to check it out. I love the idea of the variations of flavor, not to mention the quickness. yea!
I am trying to catchup on my blogging, by reading as many post as i can. I have been looking a good homemade cleaner, and your recipe sounds great. Thanks for sharing.
Hope you get to plant those veggies soon. I must live in a much warmer climate, as we will soon be gathering our peas.
As always enjoy visiting you.
Hugs,
Sue

How did the planting go? We were able to get a lot planted today as well. I am so glad our weather has warmed up a tad and the sun was shinning! Have a great week end.

You make this bread sound so easy, and delish! I haven't tried bread for a while. If I can find this book at the library, I'll give it another go. Thanks for the nudge and inspiration.
