It's raining, it's pouring, but God is still God.

Pete and Alex, October 31, 2010

Two years ago November 2nd, we lost our precious grandson, Alexander Lee to SMA.

Precious, precious...
We had all gotten together for a Sunday supper, not knowing Alex had only 48 hours left.
I had Gina taking some pictures and a sweet video of our grandbaby...so grateful for that time together.

Right now we are dealing with another storm of sorts.
Pete took a bad fall off an 8ft deck on Friday and today we found out his leg, near the ankle, is broken.
He will need to be off his foot completely for a minimum of 4-6 weeks, and will need to see an orthopedic surgeon asap to determine if surgery is needed.

I am working, but they have cut my hours as of this week, so we will be reassessing whether or not it is financially worth it for us.
We were looking for a place closer to Grand Rapids, but with the accident, we are not sure where that leaves us.
No insurance and no work for weeks....
I need to be able to say....

It is well with my soul

  1. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
    When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
    • It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
  2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
    Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
  3. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
  4. For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
  5. But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
    The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!
  6. And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
    The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

    Prayers most appreciated

    In Christ alone,
    Cindy

Cindy,
I know when I heard about hurricane Sandy I asked the Lord if he could spare his people such loss and pain. He knows what he is doing and I trust him. I pray for safety for all in the path of the hurricane. I also pray for you. You have been through such a time. You will look back some day and be amazed you got through it. But you will. I know you have faith. I pray your husband heals well and that he can get therapy without insurance for his ankle. Seems the therapist could take payments knowing both of your work history. Many prayers...and hugs.

Oh Cindy,

What precious pictures of your grandson Alex. What a treasure!

So very sorry to hear of the affliction you and your husband are facing during these very sobering days.

Praying that the Lord will be the lifter of your head and for you and Pete to keep your eyes on the Lord. That He will give you peace in the middle of your storm, wisdom for decisions you need to make, perfect and providential timing in His help and deliverance for all that concerns you. Mercy and grace to pour on you like rain and that you will know the goodness and loving kindness of the Lord. Praying that Pete's leg heals fully and without any complications. May the Lord provide for you both in all ways.

Precious one...may your faith grow stronger and your Lord be praised and glorified in your life.

In Christ alone...Susan

Oh Cyn - I'm so sorry to hear this news. You're right, God is still God. And this song is my "go-to song" that I sing to myself when life is troubling. I guess you know the story behind this song?

I will be praying for you, I'm going to right now as I read your post. The Lord knows what you need before you even ask. I'm praying for strength for you both to lean on Him and know that He'll carry you through this storm that you're going thru. For peace as you wait to see the HOW that He's going to do it, and for much love and friends around you to help your heavy load.

In Him, Vickie

God is still God and He's still in the miracle working business. This situation is in His hands and I'm praying as well as many others sweetie. Hang in there and remember that no matter what it looks like, God is your father, banker, docotr, and friend. He is your everything.
I remember when your precious grandbaby went to Heaven, it doesn't seem like two years.

You're so strong Cindy. Depend on God for everything.

Oh Cindy...I remember very well those trying days as your precious Alex was being cared for and then as he went to be with the LORD. How raw those things are. May the LORD continually give HIS grace and strength to you all. I will pray for you and your family regarding this especially as you remember those special days you had with Alex. And now...with your freshest trial upon you...I am praying for that too. The LORD hears. HE is with you in this storm. May HIS abiding joy and strength and provision be yours at this difficult time. Praying that your husband's leg heals up well with little intervention.

Much Love,
Camille

I am so sorry to hear more tragedy has befallen your family. I'm praying God will give you the direction you should go and the money you need to live. I love that song and the story behind it. It really does put things in perspective. Hugs and Blessings, Jackie

Prayers to you and yours. The storms are strong, but God is stronger. Rest easy in Him and try to let the rest go. I recently heard a quote that if time or money can fix your problem then it isn't a problem at all. It can be hard to really believe that, but it is true!

Glad he wasn't hurt worse and praying for healing of his leg.

Cyn, you are tucked into prayer; I wish I had the words that would give you comfort. I'm not sure I do but I do have the words to tuck you, and yours, into prayer.
My first thought when I read about Alex...what a joyful place heaven must be for His, and our, loved ones are there...with Him!
